Legumes (beans, lentils, chickpeas, peas) are among the most affordable and nutrient-dense foods available. They provide plant protein, complex carbohydrates, and fiber in a single package. While their protein is not complete (most are low in methionine), combining legumes with grains provides all essential amino acids. Legumes are staple foods in many of the world's healthiest dietary patterns.
